Wilma Jean Smith, 92, of Fairmont, WV, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Lantz, WV on January 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Granville J. and Edna Tenney George.
In addition to her parents Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Hayward C. Smith; three siblings: Betty Reed, Vera Wilfong, and William George; and one granddaughter, Crystal C. Smith.
Wilma is survived by her two children: daughter Brenda Jo Closson of Fairmont, and son Hayward Michael "Mike" Smith of Fairmont; three grandchildren: Scott Smith, Patty Ashby, and Susie Johnson; and four great-grandchildren: Isabella, Mia, Tiffany, and Marcus.
Wilma worked with Sears catalog sales for many years and attended Trinity Assembly of God Church in Fairmont. She was a great seamstress and loved her flowers, especially African violets.
