Roanoke, West Virginia - Thomas Everhart Blake, 89, of Roanoke and formerly of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston.
Thomas was born in Pursglove on November 2, 1935, a son of the late Fredrick Charles Blake and Rella Irene Davy Blake. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by one son, James Blake; one grandson, Bryan Francis; and five siblings: Charles Blake, Robert Blake, Nancy Blake, Mary Spiker, and Gladys Stemple.
On November 8, 1958, Thomas married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Moore. After 66 wonderful years together, Margaret will miss him dearly.
Forever cherishing their memories of Thomas are his beloved wife, Margaret Blake; seven children: Fredrick Blake of Owings, MD, Thomas Blake of Fairmont, Rose Anne Blake and husband, Kim Collett, of Elkins, Bridget Garrison and companion, Bob Munchin, of Fairmont, Theresa Harrison and husband, Gary, of Weston, Margret Blake of Fairmont, and Joseph Blake and wife, Amanda, of Weston; twenty-two grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Hurd of Charleston; one sister-in-law, Ann Dunaway of Redding, CA; several nieces and nephews; and two beloved K-9 companions: Murphy and Benjamin.
Thomas was a beloved member of St Patrick Catholic Church, and is remembered for his strong faith and dedication to his community. He was a proud veteran, serving as an Ammo Tech Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957. Following his military service, Thomas went on to attend West Virginia University. He later retired after 35 years of dedicated service as a machine attendant for the North American Philips Lighting Corporation, formerly Westinghouse. In his retirement, Thomas found joy in the simplicity of life. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching wildlife of all kinds.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, with Rosary at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Patrick Catholic Church located at 210 Center Ave. in Weston at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, with Reverend Father Douglas A. Ondeck officiating. Interment will follow at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery in Roanoke with full military honors accorded by the United States Marine Corp. and Lewis County Honor Guard.
