Baxter, West Virginia - Stephanie Wilson, Baxter passed away on July 10 at Mon Health Center after a brief illness, daughter of the late Robert (Corney) and Zela Godfrey Wilson. A 1970 graduate of Rivesville High School, Stephanie never left a stone unturned; small in stature with a giant heart, she never met a stranger. She happily volunteered anywhere needed for her church and her community. She was a member of the UMWA District 31 and retired after 33 years as an active coal miner. She belonged to the VFW Post 802 where she enjoyed bingo on Thursday nights as well as enjoying weekly luncheons with her coal mining friends and others. She supervised the summer playground at the Baxter Community Park and supervised local election boards. She was a member of Hagans Community Church.
Stephanie was predeceased by a brother Kevin, her life partner Dick Martin and brother-in-law Mike Jones.
She is survived by a brother Robert (Bobby) Wilson (Ginger), Plum Run; sisters Pamela Jarvis (Mike), Rivesville; and Audrey Jones, Baxter and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends Brenda Hensley, Judy Broadwater and her beloved chihuahua Bela.
The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held at the Hagans Community Church on Sunday July 20. Family and friends can gather together from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00. Pastor Isaac Harmon will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hagan Community Church, 1637 Hagans Road, Core, WV 26541.
