Fairmont, WV - Sandra K. Minico Vaughan, 72, of Fairmont passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at her residence. She was born April 7, 1953 in Watson daughter of the late John and Teresa Bruno Minico.

Sandra was a 1971 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, attended Fairmont State College and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She worked at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in various line and supervisory capacities for 35 years. She was honored to serve the veterans who sacrificed so much for America.

She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. In the past serving as a reader, communion minister, CCD teacher, parish & finance councils. She also attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church and served on the parish council.

She was a member of the Junior League of Fairmont, Women's Club of Fairmont, Arts and Humanities Council, Fairmont Historic Preservation Commission, Woodlawn Cemetery Board and Howard House Board. She also worked on the Woodlawn Cemetery and Howard House preservation projects.

She loved reading, antiquing, thrifting, recycling and repurposing. She served as a twice weekly Read-A-Loud volunteer at her grandchildren's school, Fairmont Catholic. She loved being outdoors, maintaining her yard and several flower gardens. She was also a certified Master Gardener.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Maika Ann Vaughan Merriman of Fairmont, two beloved grandchildren, Isaac Michael Merriman and Sofia Claire Merriman of Fairmont. She is also survived by her sister Brenda J. Burgreen of Fairmont, her brother John Michael and wife Gina Minico of Elkins. She is also survived by her Uncle and Aunt Frank and Shirley Minico of Fairmont and Aunt Delores Vanetti of Fairmont. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Romeo Bacalso, S.V.D. and Fr. Joseph Konikattil as celebrants. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
