Fairmont, West Virginia - Russell Dobbs Cook fell asleep in death on May 2, 2025, at the age of 79 in Fairmont, West Virginia at the Wishing Well Assisted Living facility. He was born on October 29, 1945, in Niagara Falls to the late William Dobbs and Helen Scott. Russell was a cherished member of the community and a devoted family man. Since childhood, Russell was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Russell was deeply involved in his congregation, teaching and sharing his faith with others.

Russell is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Saunders Cook, his sister, Stephanie Singleton; his brother, Michael C. Cook; his children, David Cook and his wife Taina, Nicole Wilshire and her husband Thomas, Jonathan Cook and his wife Rachel, Dawn Metzgar and her husband Christopher; 14 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

In 1963, Russell graduated from high school in Buffalo, New York. After training as a machinist, he worked for over 30 years at First Energy in Harrison County until he retired in 2022. Russell served along with several elders at the Fairmont Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses where he was a very active and caring shepherd of the congregation. Russell enjoyed talking about the Bible and sharing positive Bible truths. Russell devoutly believed in the Bible's promise of a future resurrection on earth.

He dearly loved his wife and their extended family. Russell always had a kind word for everyone he met. His loving and thoughtful nature will never be forgotten by all those who knew him.

A memorial service to celebrate Russell's life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 1620 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554.
