Richard Gail Smith (Snuffy) Obituary

Fairmont, WV - Richard "Snuffy" Gail Smith, 76, of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 15, 1948, in Fairmont, a son of the late Charles "Bud" Smith and Jeannetta Ford Smith.


Richard served in The West Virginia National Guard, where he then became a factory worker at Ruskin Manufacturing. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed tending to his lawn and his home. Richard enjoyed spending time with those who were dear to him.


Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Jeannetta Ford Smith; one son, Jeremy (Kayla) Smith; one daughter, Jamie (Alex) Peschl; his significant other, Mary Ann Riegel; one sister-in-law, Michelle Roderick; five grandchildren, Cole Peschl, Cameron Peschl, Lyla Smith, Weston Smith, and Emery Smith; and one niece, Cheryl Smith.


He is preceded in death by his father, Charles "Bud" Smith; his wife, Linda Roderick; one brother Charles (Judy) Smith; and one nephew, Chad Smith.

Friends and Family may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, West Virginia, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Reverend Clifford Morgan presiding. An interment will follow at the Janes Memorial Cemetery.
