Rex Henderson Jr., the eldest of four brothers who loved each other dearly, passed on from this life on May 5th to be with his family on the other side. Rex was born January 24, 1927 to Rex and Willa Jett Henderson and was a lifetime resident of Fairmont. He passed away peacefully at home.

Rex graduated from East Fairmont, Class of 1945. He served honorable for two years in the U.S. Navy and served on a MTB repair base on the island of Okinawa. After his two years of service, Rex came back to Fairmont and became a Fairmont Firefighter and retired after 23 years of service. He retired in 1975 as a Captain.

Rex was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. He also served a mission with his wife, Anna, in the Washington Tacoma Mission for one year.

Rex was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenna Jo (Hawkins) Henderson; son, Thomas E. Henderson and his wife Vicki (Shaffer) Henderson; and son, Rex Alan Henderson.

Rex is survived by his wife, Anna (Corathers, Rutherford) Henderson of 31 years; son, Jeff Henderson (Robin); daughter-in-aw, Cathy Henderson; step children, Sam Rutherford (Judy) and Rebecca Miller (Dwayne). Rex has three brothers, Charles (Sue), Richard, and David (Barbara). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Shy (Lonnie) Simons, Josie and Trevor Henderson, Britton (Emily) Henderson, and Shelby (Jackson) Bottomly; grandchildren, Luke (Stephanie), and Nathan Haney; Cort Bennett (Hannah), Ashley Walters (John), Samuel (Sylvia), and Dakota Rutherford; great grandchildren, Logan Inghram, Tetinsch (Jenna) and Tecumsch (Allyssa) Simons, Ethan, Abby and Audrey, Belle Haney, Fenix Barker, Delanie, Ellyson, and Duke Haney, Walker and Hayley Ice, Paisley Walters, Noah and Norah Rutherford, and Wyeth Henderson; and 2 great great grandchildren, Erza and Kitsune Simons.

The first 3 years of Rex's life were spent where the LDS Church stands now and his wishes were to be buried from the church. Friends and family will be received at the church on Rt. 73 on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with services starting at 1:00 p.m. Elders of the church will be officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens with Domico Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank all those from Hospice that lovingly cared for Rex.
