Orville William "Bud" Bell, Sr., 79, of Fairview, passed away on February 14, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on August 13, 1945 in Monongalia County to the late Charles Roy and Sylvia Marie (Wilson) Bell of Baxter.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine Frances (Ellis) Bell; one son, Orville William "Buddy", Jr. and wife Renee; daughter, Heather Anne Robinson and husband Rodney; and daughter, Connie Jo Kelley, all of Fairview.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Deidre Ellis and husband Ben, Morgan Beach and husband RJ, Jacob Dobbins, Audrey Hamilton, and Aubrey Hamilton; and five great grandchildren, Beau, Judson, and Orion Beach, and Lincoln and Amelia Ellis.
He is survived by five siblings, Charles "Chuck" Bell and Emily "Alice" Foley, both of Fairview, Denzil "Wack" (Diane) Bell of Mannington, and Ruth "Midge" Cosper and Carolyn "Suzy" Greinert, both of Fairmont. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Bud served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. He worked for Pennlines and retired from Blacksville #2 Coal Mines as Midnight Maintenance Foreman, as well as Soles Electric, Davis Electric, and Dynamo.
Bud worked hard all his life for his family and always helped others if he could. He was a giving man and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
Per his request, Bud will be cremated with no services. A family gathering will be held at a later date on his farm for a memorial and to scatter his ashes.
