Odbert B. "O.B." Henderson, 91, of Grafton passed away Tuesday (Aug. 7, 2007) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born Feb. 29, 1916, a son of the late Robert O. and Grace May Helmick Henderson. He was a retired Street and Water Superintendent for the City of Grafton for 17 years, where was instrumental in helping Grafton win the All-American City Award. O.B. was also a co-owner of Henderson Drilling. Mr. Henderson was an original committee member of the Mother's Day Shrine, was a member of the Grafton Rotary, American Legion Post 12 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton, where he served as a trustee for 23 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Posten Henderson; second wife, Bertha Abels Henderson, one daughter, Joyce Mencken; four brothers, Atwell, Clyde, TwyFord and Edward Henderson; and two sisters, Lila May and Irene Henderson. Mr. Henderson is survived by two sons, James E. and wife Mary Ruth Henderson of Grafton, and Russell L. and wife Darlene Henderson of Grafton; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley St. Clair and husband Craig of Morgantown; nine grandchildren, Crystal Rucker, Sherry Knotts, Jeff Henderson, Justin St.Clair, Mitch St.Clair, Sarah St.Clair Mills, Richard Henderson, Linda Curtin and Patti Turner; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Saturday at the Bartlett Funeral Home in Grafton. Mr. Henderson will lie in state at the First Baptist Church of Grafton from 1-2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. Charles Steele officiating. Interment will follow at the Middleville Cemetery.
