Norma I. Thompson, 98, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born March 23, 1923, in Alison, PA, the daughter of the late James H. Lampkin, Sr. and the late Carrie Cropps Lampkin.

She was a member at Church of God MPGT, Pastor Eric A. Hines, 900 Lewis Street, Fairmont, WV. Last September, 2020, she was one of the honorees of the "Sensational Saints" award given by Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Pastor Mark Staples, honoring those 95 plus year olds. She was given the Key to the City of Fairmont by Former Mayor Brad Merrifield while exhibiting that awesome smile of hers and wearing her purple and white and looking "good" as she always liked to dress.

Miss Jean, as those who fondly knew her, was a very soft-spoken lady whose smile was infectious. She loved to sit on her screened in porch and wave to everyone who passed her home on Spence Street. She worked years ago at Belmont Motor Inn in house-keeping, she also worked at American Laundry which used to be located on Maple Avenue, but her favorite thing to do was in-home day care and those children she kept safe, who are now adults would always stop by to get a hug and say hello to Miss Jean.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two beloved daughters, Phyllis Hines Bolling of Fairmont, WV and Carolyn L. Hines (Stanley) Brown, Matthews, NC; two beloved sons, Larry E. (Carolyn) Hines and Willis J. "Red" (Deborah) Hines, both of Fairmont, WV. Her memory will also be cherished by nine grandchildren, Martin E. (Amy) Cox, II, Kimberly N. (Anwar) Diggs, Larry J. (Scheryl) Bolling, D. Shane Wilson, David H. Brown, III, Tami D. (Printess) Winston, Erika J. Hines, Christopher M. (Sarah) Brown, Nakia J. (Alisha) Hines; fourteen great-grandchildren, Abby O. Brown, Brooklyn C. Brown, Zylen J. Hines, Aubreyel L. Hines, M. DaRius Hines, Brayden H. Burrell, KaShylin D. Winston, Knight-Shawn W. Winston, Taylin R. Dobbs, Symara B. Wilson, Faith Diggs, Angel Diggs, Alexa H. Cox and Martin E. Cox, III; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her memory will also be cherished by her close friends, Hollis Cook, Mary Quarterman and Lorraine Davis; and, fondly regarded as engrafted grandchild, Hayden Hill.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Ralph E. Thompson, her siblings, James H. Lampkin, Jr., Inez Lampkin Houston, Odell Lampkin and Pauline Lampkin Hancock. Also preceded in death were beloved grandchildren Willis J. Hines, Jr. and Heather R. Hines; great-granddaughter, Miracle Diggs, great-grandson, Printess A. Winston, IV and engrafted daughter Roxanne Hinton Hollins.
