Morgantown, WV - Margaret Ann Cheslock, a cherished matriarch, departed from this world on May 26, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in Rivesville, WV, on May 8, 1929, to the late John and Anna Dubinsky Dorsey, Margaret lived a full and vibrant life that was a testament to her caring and industrious spirit. Her passing in Morgantown, WV, marks the end of an era defined by her unwavering commitment to family, community, and the simple joys of life.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 78 years, Julian Cheslock, who passed just a month before her, her dear son, Julian "Tiny" Cheslock; four sisters, Anna Bruenner, Helen Brown, Katie Dolog, and Mary Suba; and three brothers, John Dorsey, Andrew Dorsey, and Frank Krawczyk.
Her life is celebrated by those she leaves behind, including her children: Louise Henry (Roger), Dan Cheslock, Bryan Cheslock (Margie), and daughter-in-law Sharon Cheslock, all of Morgantown. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren Julian Anthony "Tony" Cheslock (Sara), Elizabeth Henry Cardany (Scott), Bruce A. Cheslock (Kristina), Christina Henry Hunt (Travis Lawson), Jonathan R. Cheslock (Becca Hoffman), Stephanie Henry Ervin (Matthew), and Alexander B. Cheslock (Irbin Morales). She was a doting great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
In her community, Margaret was well-known for her leadership and service. She served as a former president of the PTA at George Phillips and Riverside Schools and was a respected 4-H leader. Her involvement in the Mon County Farm Women's Club, now referred to as CEO's, showcased her passion for rural life and community betterment. As a homemaker and contributor to the family farm, she instilled values of hard work and resilience in those around her.
Margaret found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener, her hands often deep in the West Virginia soil where she grew strawberries and maintained beautiful gardens, and made the most delicious apple butter. Her love for crafting led her to create beautiful ceramics and fond memories with her family.
Family and friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd. Westover, on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 30th from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service begins with Pastor John Neely officiating.
