Lois June Freeland Obituary

Lois is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Wm. Freeland III; daughter Sherri Lynn Ellis, grandson Terry Alden Ellis, wife Victoria and their son Jack Lyndon Ellis; son Charles Wm. Freeland IV and his wife Ann; and daughter Stacie Leigh Panton and her husband Hugh and their sons Hugh Grant Panton III and Remy Wm. Panton. She is also survived by her brothers Louis G. Smith and his wife Diane; and Richard Smith and wife Mary Jo; sister in-laws Barbara Smith and Shiela Summers Smith; plus, over 30 nieces and nephews.


Lois was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Virginia (Smallwood) Smith of Fairmont, WV; brother Harry L. Smith and his wife Juanita; sister Lillian Brady and her husband Junior; sister Mildred Merrifield; and brothers Burl Smith, Earl Smith and Jimmy Smith.


Lois's occupations during her career were as Director of Meetings and National Conventions for AECT for over 30 years ending in 2020 and simultaneously as Director of Meetings and National Conventions for the National EBS Association for 20 years.


Lois was a life-long Christian who attended Baptist Temple, United Methodist and Christian & Missionary Alliance Churches in the Fairmont, WV area and then United Methodist and Living Hope Church in Clermont, Florida.


Visitation in Florida will be held at Becker Funeral Home on Minneola Avenue in Clermont, FL. Visitation will be on Thursday Evening April 3rd 5-9pm. Celebration of Life will be at Living Hope Church on 7th Street in Clermont on Friday April 4th 11am - 12noon. The celebration will be live streamed on The Living Hope Church website.


Visitation in Fairmont will be at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, WV on Thursday April 10th from 5-9 pm and then Celebration of Life on April 11th will begin at 11am with Pastor Nathan Barker officiating. An interment at Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fairmont, WV immediately following the services.
