Charleston, West Virginia - With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family of renowned attorney and community leader, Katherine Louise "Kitty" Dooley, 67, of Charleston, West Virginia, announces her passing on Friday, October 3, 2025. She departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her husband, Chuck Green, family members, and the comforting presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born July 9, 1958, in Fairmont, WV, Kitty was the beloved daughter of the late Fred Douglas and Juanita Ruth Dooley. From an early age, she demonstrated a keen sense of justice, compassion and purpose, qualities that would guide her throughout her remarkable life.
Attorney Kitty Dooley is a1980 graduate of Marshall University and a1990 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law. She received her Officer Commission through ROTC and, following her undergraduate work, served in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Officer, attaining the rank of Captain. While at Marshall University, Kitty made history by becoming the first female cadet to be awarded the Army Airborne Parachute Badge.
A distinguished attorney, public servant and community activist, Kitty dedicated her career to advocating for fairness, equality, and the protection of others. She served with integrity and courage, always striving to be a voice for the voiceless. Her commitment to justice was matched only by her unwavering faith and deep love for people.
Kitty was a member and deaconess at Morning Star Baptist Church in Fairmont, WV. As a devoted Christian, Attorney Dooley lived her faith through action, offering encouragement and wisdom to family members, colleagues, and many who crossed her path. She was a cherished friend to many and known for her kind heart, radiant smile, and ability to make everyone feel valued and heard.
Above all, Kitty dearly loved her family. She found joy in gathering loved ones, upholding family traditions, and ensuring every celebration reflected warmth, laughter, and togetherness. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all blessed to know her.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Juanita Dooley, brother, Fredrica Mark Douglas Dooley and his wife, Karen Yvonne Dooley.
Kitty leaves to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Charles Green, sisters, Freda A. Dooley, Deborah A. Dooley, Jacqueline A. Dooley, Dr. Elizabeth Arlene Dooley, and Teresa Shepherd, brother, Stephen Burks, nieces, Memori J. Dobbs (Deon), Channel Joseph (Cecil), Delorean Dooley White, Fredrica Dooley Brown, Briahnna Dooley Newbill, Marcia Brannon (Derrick), and Andrea Shepherd, nephews, Zyon Dobbs, Zycheus Dobbs, and countless family members and friends whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime.

Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, October 11, 2025, noon, at Morning Star Baptist Church, Pastor Anthony "Tony" Jones.
