June P. Shelton, 85, of Morgantown, died peacefully Friday (Feb. 9, 2018), at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was for March 19, 1932 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Clyde Crandall and Icie Talkington Crandall.
June was a 1950 graduate of Farmington High School and was a majorette. She worked for Westinghouse/Phillips Corporation as a lighting specialist and retired from there.
She was a member of the Meadowdale United Methodist Church H and H Chapel where she was active in several church activities, including the church volleyball league, playing on the team well into her sixties and was a "Willing Worker" in the church.
She enjoyed crocheting afghans, bowling on her league team, watching basketball, in particular the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs, baking many different types of cookies at Christmas for family and friends but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. June was the youngest of 11 siblings and the last survivor of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
Surviving her are two sons, Edward Shelton (Cheri) of Fairmont and David (Becky) Shelton, of Grafton; two daughters, Lori Hertzog (Rob), of Morgantown and Linda Rudy (Dave), of Morgantown; and seven grandchildren, Oliver Shelton, Krandel Slingerland (Pete), Benjamin Hertzog, Abagail Hertzog, Katherine Hertzog, Alexander Rudy and Maximilian Rudy.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dering-Henson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
There will be a private family internment in the Crandall Family Cemetery, Farmington. Caring services are being provided by Dering-Henson Funeral Home. Condolences online at www.dering-henson.com.
