Fairmont, West Virginia - Joseph Frank Lomicka, Jr., 95, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Genesis Nursing Home in Fairmont. He was born on July 11, 1930 in Universal, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Zarna Lomicka Sr. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Linda L. Palmer Lomicka.
Joseph was a 1948 graduate of Penn Hills High School and a faithful member of Gateway United Methodist Church in Fairmont. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Coast Guard, where he toured in the Korean War. Joseph worked for over 18 years as the Production Supervisor with the Wonder Bread & Hostess Cake Company, until his retirement. He was also a member of the local American Legion.
In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Lomicka III and his wife Susan of Henrico, VA, daughter, Julie Mayo and her husband Robert of Chesterfield, VA, grandchildren, Ashley Wojtan and her husband Edward, Jennifer Barden and her husband Brett, Matthew Lomicka, Melissa Mayo, and Christina Mayo, great grandchildren, Eleanor and Olivia Wojtan, sister, Marie Eckhardt and her husband Phil of Harrison City, PA, as well as dear friend and caretaker, Nancy McCutchan.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his former wife, Julie A. Duvall Lomicka, stepdaughter, Lori Smith, and two sisters, Gloria Lenosky, and Delores Lomicka.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 10 am until 12 Noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 12 Noon with Reverend Nici Masters officiating. Entombment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
