Jerry Lee Yost Obituary

Jerry Lee Yost, 88, of Statler Run, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2022. He passed away at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Audra Errol Donley Yost of 57 years.

Jerry was born on October 18, 1933 at his residence in Crossroads, WV to the late Henry J. Yost and Garnet Ogerette Tennant Yost. Jerry retired from the Carnegie Natural Gas Company, Mannington Division as a meter reader, well tender, and lineman.

He is survived by his two daughters, Leanne Yost Durst and husband Michael Durst and Glenda Yost Cummins and husband Jess Cummins, four grandchildren Beth Durst Hutson and husband Andrew Hutson and Michael Durst II of Fairmont, Luke Cummins and Scott Cummins of Statler Run, two great-grandsons, Spencer and Nikolai Hutson. Also surviving, are two sisters, Eileen Kucera of Deltona, FL, Mary Alvarez and husband Victor of Kingman, AZ, four brothers Gene Yost and wife Sarah of Mt. Morris, PA, Gary Yost of Frederick, MD, Larry Yost and wife MaryLou of Mt. Morris, PA, and Roger Yost and wife Nancy of Core, WV. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry served in the United States Army from 1953 through 1957. He spent a major portion of his active-duty time in Fountainebleu, France. Jerry was a member of the Liming s Ridge Church of Christ in Burton. He and Errol attended the Miracle Run United Methodist Church for several years. Following Errol's passing, he has attended the Jakes Run Assembly of God with his daughters. Jerry has also been a member of the Monongalia Co. Farm Bureau for 47 years. He actively served as the President for 26 years. He thoroughly enjoyed leading their annual bus trips to lobby for farmers at the State Capital in Charleston. He also served as the Chairman and as a member of the Farm Service Committee in Morgantown.

Jerry and his brother, Gene, had numerous joint occupations together in their younger years including the Yost Brother's Logging Co. for which they utilized a horse and one of the first one-man chain saws. When Jerry was eighteen, he and his brother purchased the Yost Brother's Sawmill. They later bought a milk truck and hauled milk for the Carnation Milk Co. out of Cameron and the Garrison Ridge in Greene County, PA. Jerry also started working for Pennzoil Gas Co. in Wetzel Co. and later in Jakes Run. He then worked at Carnegie Natural Gas Co. for the next twenty-five years and retired in 1996. He retired to enjoy his lifelong passions of drilling water wells and farming.

Friends will be received at the Jakes Run Assembly of God Church, 1790 Jakes Run Rd., Fairview, WV for visitation from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 14 and from 10:00 am till 11:00am on Tuesday. Funeral services at will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Bennett, Pastor Jerry Teter, Pastor Rose Saunders and Pastor Dave Spears officiating. Interment will follow at the Tennant Cemetery in Pentress, WV. All are welcome to attend the funeral dinner at the Jakes Run Assembly of God Youth and Family Center following internment.
