Fairmont, WV - Jeannetta May Smith, 105, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday, April 01, 2026, at Fazio's Elderly Care in Fairmont. She was born in Fairmont on November 17, 1920, at Cook's Hospital on Old East Side, the daughter of the late Lilly May Ford. Her mother passed away when Jeanetta was 5 years old and she was raised by her grandmother Mary Ford. "Her Holy Father was the only father that I ever had and the only one The World Needs."

Jeannetta worked at various jobs in Fairmont including Hartley's Department Store, and the A&P Grocery Store.

She was a dedicated member of the Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Fairmont Gardening Club and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling with her West Viriginia Travelers Group. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her mother and grandmother she was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Bud" Smith; two sons, Charles Smith and spouse Judy, and Richard "Snuffy" Smith and spouse Linda; and one grandson, Chad Smith.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Jamie Peschl and her spouse Alex, Jeremy Smith and his spouse Kayla, Cheryl Smith and her spouse Rene; great grandchildren Cole Peschl, Cameron Peschl, Lyla Smith, Weston Smith, Emery Smith, Dan Wogoman, Kelly Wogoman and Shawn Wogoman.

Family and friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, West Virginia, on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 04, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend James Morley presiding. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
