Fairmont, WV - James Victor Polino, 88, passed away April 22, 2025 in his home after long brave battle with cancer. He was born in Fairmont, WV on October 21 1936 to Samuel and Margaret "Maggie" (Delsardo) Polino.

James (Jimmy) was a lifelong resident of Fairmont. He graduated from Saint Peter Catholic School where he was a standout basketball player. He made the All- Star Basketball Team when he was in High School. Jimmy went on to attend Greenbrier Military Academy in Lewisburg. He formed lifelong friendships and went on to attend the yearly reunions for over 50 years. He finished his college education at Fairmont State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. Jimmy served in the United States Army.

After working for Owens Illinois for 12 years he went back to Fairmont State to earn a master's degree in Business Administration. Jimmy went on to have a 30 year career with the Dept. of Army as the Director of Safety and Occupational Health. He retired in 2009 from the C.E. Kelly Support Facility, Oakdale, PA.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Maggie Polino; his brother and sister-in-law, Carmen and Kathleen Polino; brother-in-law Leonard P. Waltz.

Jimmy is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Waltz; his longtime companion, Sandy Ricketts; his nieces and nephews- Tom (Janis) Waltz; Chris (Becky) Waltz; Joyce (Steve) Foretich; Mary Kay (Mike) Avis; Susanne Waltz; Robert Polino, Carlena (Joe) Pena, and Victor Polino. He is also survived by many great nephews and nieces and great-great nieces and nephews.

Jimmy loved his family, friends, hunting, making wine, gardening, fitness, WVU football and basketball, and Greenbrier Reunions.

Family and friends will be received at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, WV from 4-7PM, Friday, April 25, 2025. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Fairmont, at 10:30 am, Saturday, April 26, 2025 with Fr. Kishore Varaparla, H.G.N. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Marion County Honor guard will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
