Fairmont, West Virginia - James Charles Bowman, 20, of Fairmont, WV died serving his country in Korea in 1950. He was born in Jordan, WV on July 6, 1930, the son of the late Melvin Dearl and Mamie (Thomas) Bowman.

James served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Melvin Darrell Bowman, Jr, of Euclid, Ohio; sister in law, Joyce Bowman, nieces and nephews: Larry Herron, James Herron, Georganne Moore, Jessica Bleigh, Freddy Bowman, Jr, Debbie Layman, Linda Hess, Bonnie Wamsley, Dave Carter, Jay Bowman, Jo Bowman White, Melvin Bowman III, Joseph Bowman, Paul Bowman, Jerry Bowman, Virginia Ann Lyle, Michelle Malone, Angela Herron and David Herron and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mamie (Thomas) Bowman; siblings, Virginia Herron, Freddie Bowman, Sr, Jessie Rosser, Louise Sivnksty, Retha Carter, Clara Belle Bowman, Jerry Bowman, Monsel Bowman Herron, Nancy Queen, nieces and nephews: Theresa Sivnksty, William Herron Jr., Pam Gaston, Jimmy Bowman, Laura Cottrill, Mamie Ann Malone, Melvin Rosser, Freddy Rosser, Michael Rosser, and Linzie Queen Jr.

Family and friends can gather at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and then on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Pastor Jim Zinn will be officiating, and a burial will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military rites given by the United States Army.
