Helen Dragoo Basile, 101 years old of Fairmont W.V. passed away on April 9th 2025 at Harmony at White Oaks in Bridgeport W.V. Helen was born on July 30th 1923 in Fairview W.V. She was the daughter of the late Harry Ward Dragoo and Francis Chalfant Dragoo.

Helen graduated from Fairview High School. She continued her education at Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated with an RN degree. She then went on to serve as a Navy Cadet Nurse at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth VA during World War II until the war ended. On her return to Fairview, she married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life (Michael E. Basile)

Helen continued her profession as a nurse in the office of Dr. Kyle Swisher until she started her family. Among her duties as Dr. Swisher's nurse was to help deliver many babies in the Fairview area. She would often tell stories of these adventures and as these babies grew into adulthood, she would often point out that "he/she was one of my babies"

Helen was a devoted wife of the late Michael E. Basile and loving mother to Suzanne Press (Larry) Francie Starsick (Sam) and Michael J. Basile (Susan). She was cherished by her grandchildren: Joshua Starsick (April) Samantha Starsick, Nicole Press, Michael E. Basile (Anna), Harry Basile and her great grandchildren, Mylaki and Kytanna Starsick..

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws John and Mary Basile, her siblings- Bernard Dragoo, Richard (Vi) Dragoo, Connie (Bob) Jones, son-in-law Sam Starsick and infant grandson, Samuel Christopher Starsick.

Helen was a wonderful homemaker, mother and community member. She enjoyed needlework, playing Scrabble and Bridge as well as golfing in her spare time.

She will be remembered for her kindness, grace, warmth and her unwavering love for her family and friends.

Her family would like to thank Helen's great niece Beth Mercer Harris and the Staff of Harmony at White Oaks for their care and compassion, as well as W.V.U. Hospice.

A private family service will be held at graveside, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
