Fairmont, WV - Freda Keener Scott, 97, of Fairmont, WV passed away with her faithful caregiver, Karen Thornton by her side, peacefully on April 3rd, 2026. The family offers a very special appreciation to Karen.

Freda was born on December 23,1928 in Listonburg, PA where she lived her early life then lived her childhood and adolescence in Mount Morris PA and the remaining years in Fairmont. Freda lived a long life marked by devotion to her Lord and family; she was always willing to help others.

She quit school at age 16 and went to work to help her family. She carried herself with a quiet strength and loyalty to those she loved. At age 18 she moved to Fairmont and began working at Owens-Illinois Glass Company, where she exhibited a strong and dependable work ethic for 39 years. She married her husband William J. Scott in 1963 and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Freda was the daughter of the late Evie Cecil Keener and Edna (Nedrow) Keener. Freda is survived by 5 sisters, Nina Hayhurst, Shirley Hartley (Carl), Margret Gotses, Barb "Pidge" Haines (Tim) and Carolyn McFarland (Cecil) and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Haines, Marlyn Thomas, Robert, Darrell, and Jack Keener. Freda was an avid bowler; she bowled on a team for many years. When she was younger and able she loved spending time at Valley Falls state park. She was a member of Mount Harmony Church and for many years organized the funeral meals. In her late life she attended Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle until she was unable to drive that far.

Freda will be fondly remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to family, and her steadfastness.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11 am with Pastor Joe Adams officiating. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www. mcculla.com.
