Frank Edward Snider Sr.


Frank Edward Snider Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on August 22, 2019, in Fairmont, WV. His Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, claimed his soul as he took his last breath on this earth. He was born on May 03, 1935, in Fairmont, a son of the late Otis Ralph Snider and Nevada (Dye) Snider.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Ralph Snider.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Snider (née Gardner).

He is also survived by sons, Frank E. Snider Jr. and David E. Snider and his wife, Shelly, all of Fairmont; daughter, Rachel L. Smith and her husband Wesley, of Mt. Clare; sisters, Mary M. Farley and her husband Emerson, of Virginia, and Martha J. Terry and her husband Robin, of Kentucky; grandchildren: Christopher McLaughlin, Jacob McLaughlin, Gracie Snider, all of Fairmont, and Caleb and Ewan Smith, of Mt. Clare

After completing secondary school at Fairmont Senior High School, Frank attended Letourneau Tech in Longview, Texas for one year. He then completed his education at Fairmont State University and studied Mechanical Engineering. He served his country in the United States Air Force, 6th Civil Engineering Squadron as a fireman. Frank worked at Galis/FMC/EIMCO/Tampela Corporation in Fairmont for 28 years as an Assemblyman Specialist.

Frank enjoyed his time educating the county's youth about the history of unions in America as the COPE Director for the United Steel Workers Union. He was very active in the union serving as an officer for many years. He spent his life working in the garden and working on cars, passions that he instilled in his children. In his later years he enjoyed spending time at Dayspring Camp located in Harrison county where he helped with whatever handyman services were needed. Frank was a loving husband, Dad and spent his life providing for his family.

Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Sunday from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., and on Monday from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. with services taking place at the funeral home on Monday, August 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Dr. Bob Wildeman and Reverend Harold Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors provided by the Marion County Veteran's Council Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.

Truly a wonderful human soul.....I was fortunate to get to know him at the Tygart Center. .He will be missed. .We were all sadden over loosing him. God has truly gained an angel.
