Dolores Manzo

Dolores Manzo, 95, passed away on February 10, 2026, at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah, WV, with her two grandchildren by her side.

Dolores was born on December 20, 1930, in Rachel, WV. She attended Farmington High School and then worked at Westinghouse until she married the love of her life, John “Duke” Manzo, on February 16, 1957. She spent many years in the local Homemakers Club, where she perfected her cooking, baking, and sewing skills. She enjoyed traveling on bus trips, shopping, going on drives with Duke, and talking on the phone.

On May 25, 1962, she and Duke welcomed their one and only son, John Michael. The rest of her life was dedicated to her role as wife, mom, and eventually her favorite title, Mammaw.

She will be greatly missed by her family, lifelong friends, and neighbors, including her beloved grandchildren, Cecilia (Justin) Lodge and Tony (Kayla) Manzo, and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Piper, and Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duke; her son, John; her parents, Mary and Michael Shenal; and her brothers, Bob, Jack, and Dick Shenal.

Cecilia and Tony would like to thank Linda Blankenship, Kathy Daniel, Brenda Manzo, and Mary Heater Rizzo for helping them care for Mammaw over the years and, most recently, the staff at St. Barbara’s for the love and compassion they showed her.

Per her wishes, Dolores donated her body to the WVU Human Gift Registry. A private memorial with her grandchildren will be held at a later time.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline

Orders placed in:

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
