Fairmont, WV - Dolores Jean Austin, of Fairmont, WV went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday October 31, 2025. She was born in Fairmont, WV, the daughter of the late W. Denzil and Vergie M (Merrill) Hayhurst.

Dolores was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a faithful member of The Bible Baptist Temple in Stonewood, WV. Dolores retired after 38 years of service from Westinghouse and Phillips Lighting (W/P). She was also a member of the W/P Veterans Association and The Marion County Senior Center in Fairmont.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Ivan L. Austin, sister-in-law Avis Hayhurst of Ripley, WV, brother- in-law William Austin and his wife Susie of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much from Ripley and Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Florence Walker of Fort Myers, FL, brothers W. Denzil Hayhurst, Jr and wife Marie of Florida, Robert E Hayhurst and his wife Norma of Fairmont, Harold W Hayhurst of Ripley, nephew Richard Barkley, nieces Rhonda King and Sue Ann Bright all of Florida.

Family and friends can gather at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, on Monday November 3, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Charles Madaus will be officiating the service and a burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
