David Christy Matthews, 74, of Winchester VA died Monday Aug. 30 at Martinsburg VA Medical Center in WV. He was born March 2, 1947 in Fairmont, son of the late William Christy and Nettie Linville Matthews. He is survived by his wife Linda Matthews, son Jeffrey Matthews and daughter Kelly Sanchez.
David was preceded in death by his 4 brothers; Dale, Paul, William J, and infant Glenn. 4 sisters; Ethel Basnett, Thelma Cole, Edna Mervine, and Esther Efaw.
David is a graduate of Mannington High School and an Air Force veteran from Vietman era. He retired from Federal Aviation Administration as a computer specialist.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Sept. 16 at 1:00 WV National Cemetery in Grafton WV.
