Daniel Lee Sloan Obituary
Daniel Lee Sloan was called home on January 8, 2025. He lived his life on his terms, was always the life of the party and went out fighting. He miraculously found a way to beat the odds with every medical issue he encountered to the point that we all dubbed him "the luckiest man alive".
He was born to Henry and Betty Sloan on May 25, 1954. He is survived by a brother Henry Jr., a sister, Deborah Nestor and a brother, Doug Sloan. His childhood included ponies, dirt bikes, berry picking and helping out at his Aunt Annie's store; but his fondest childhood memories were fishing at spruce knob with his granddad and family.
His adulthood was spent with his wife, Florence DeRosa Sloan. They shared an interesting and lifelong love with each other. Their beautiful life and love for each other blessed them with three children. "Dan Sloan's kids", oldest son Jack Sloan and his wife Beverly Sloan and their two sons Ryan and Brandon, his daughter Jessica Sloan, and his youngest son Daniel Sloan and wife Bethany Sloan and their three kids Audrina, Daniel Parker and Nora. Those same Spruce Knob memories were shared with his family and will always remain some of their fondest memories, as well.
He loved motorcycles and raced his GTO at Eldora drag strip and boasted that Sloan's could drive anything. He owned his own dump truck company, and then he worked as a coal miner until retiring.
He also leaves behind a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends, of which there was an abundance of love and many good times shared with.
If you knew Dan Sloan, then you know he was not one for formal situations or "big to dos" so in honor of his wishes, there will not be any services or funeral. Instead, at his request a party and celebration of his beautiful life! He was loved more than he'll ever know, and he will be missed immensely. In lieu of a funeral, next time you cast a line or crack a beer, please cheers to Daniel Lee Sloan!
