Bernard Leroy Ryan Jr.
Bernard Leroy "Bud" Ryan Jr., 75, of Bunner Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1944, in Fairmont, a son of the late Bernard Leroy Ryan Sr. and Ida Mae (Bunner) Ryan Walls.

He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State University; he was the retired owner of B. L. Ryan Construction, working as a building contractor and a master craftsman and woodworker. Prior to starting his construction business, Bud was employed as the Building Construction teacher at the Marion County Vocational Technical Center.

Bud was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Mt. Nebo, and one of his favorite pastimes was attending gospel meetings. He was a long-time member of the Greater Pittsburgh Area Chapter Antique Truck Club of America, where he shared his passion for antique trucks. His favorite was the 1950 GMC truck he restored, which took national champion honors. Bud also enjoyed riding and restoring old motorcycles and tractors and taking his grandchildren for rides on the golf cart. His favorite activity was spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren he held so dear. The Mail Pouch barn he built was an ongoing labor of love for him, and he spent many hours there passing the time. Bud was a generous, dependable, and kind man, who was devoted to God, his family, and his beloved Bunner Ridge community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Arthur Ryan; his stepfather, Claud Walls; brother-in-law, Butch Pyle; and mother and father-in-law, O.G. Pyle and Viola Mae Pyle.
Bud is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Sioux Ryan, of Bunner Ridge; his son, David Ryan and wife Wanda; his daughter, Carolyn Priestley and husband, John; and son, Bobby and wife Becky, all of Bunner Ridge.

He is also survived by grandchildren: Nicki Ryan, Michael and Gracie Mae Priestley, Katlyn and Samuel Ryan, and Lucas Mullooly; sisters and brothers-in-law: Susan Clelland Ryan Cockerham, Helen Triplett, Mattie Vincent, Mary Ann Prince, Martha Johnson, Cam Pyle, and Ray Pyle; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, December 09, 2019 and from 10a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, with Evangelist Norman Floyd officiating. I’m so sorry to hear of Buds passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He bought me my first scroll saw when I first began “crafting “. Always had a grin on his kind face.
