Fairmont, WV - Alma Jean (Rudy) Fisher of Levels Community, Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. Born on June 20, 1937, West Virginia Day, at her family home on East Grafton Road in Fairmont, she was the oldest daughter of the late Morgan L. and Leora J. (Haddix) Rudy.
Alma Jean was a 1956 graduate of East Fairmont High School and continued her involvement by assisting and planning many EFHS reunions throughout the years. She married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Fisher on November 27, 1957, at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Alma Jean was a faithful and active member of Levels United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and served as a Sunday School Leader for many years. Through her dedication to the church, her community, and her family, she nurtured many children and families. She was a member of the Fairmont Gideon Auxiliary, as well as a long-time board member and volunteer at the Soup Opera in Fairmont, caring for the hungry and those in need.
She will be remembered as a loving daughter who was the primary caregiver to her father who resided with her for 29 years. She was also the eldest of three sisters who remained inseparable throughout their lives. She will be remembered as a diligent homemaker, caring neighbor, dear friend, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt.
Alma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan L. and Leora J. (Haddix) Rudy, as well as her sister, Arlene Rose (Rudy) Knight.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth E. Fisher, her loving and devoted son, Richard E. Fisher, her sister, Mrs. Anna Mae (Arden Dale) Fisher, her brother-in-law, Richard E. (Rozella) Knight as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, WV, on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, November 22,2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. Michael Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
