William, Sr.'s Story
William D. Yost Sr., 77, of Fairmont, formerly of Salt Lick Road, Mannington, passed away Sunday (May 8, 2016) at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Fairmont, a son of the late Robert Merle and Ruth Shaver Yost.
William graduated from Mannington High School in 1958. He was employed as an electrician working for various contractors and in the coal fields. He was also a member of the UMW. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and gardening. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Mannington.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Yost of Fairmont; three sons, William David (Tina) Yost Jr. of Mannington, Michael (Dawn) Yost of Boothsville and Danny Yost of Beckley; seven grandchildren, Randy, Johanna, Monique and Billy Yost, Jessica (Jake) Mitchell, Stephanie (Josh) Shiosoky and Olivia Yost; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Jane Ammons of Morgantown; a brother, Jim (Joyce) Yost of Morgantown; a sister-in-law, Shirley Yost of Clear Brook, Virginia; two aunts, Betty Brown of Fairmont and June Shaver of Mannington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death on April 2, 1994, by his wife, Margaret Hill Yost, whom he married Feb. 23, 1961; a brother, Robert Yost; sisters, Martha Ann Bell and Mary Louise Ashcraft; and brothers-in-law, Keith Ashcraft and Henry Bell.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with Pastors Jerry Bush and Jim Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
