Weldon "Willie" King, 72, of Fairview, passed away Thursday (Dec. 22, 2016) at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg.
He was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Fairmont, son of the late Jesse and Ethel (Mayfield) King.
Willie was retired from Electronic Control Systems, was Baptist by faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed car shows and was an avid West Virginia University Mountaineer fan. He was a member of the Fairview EMS and the Fairview Fire Department. He also loved spending time with his many friends at Carbides filling station.
Willie is survived by one brother, Wendell King of Ohio; one sister, Gwendolyn Konya and husband Steve of Fairmont; four nieces, Christina Zukowsky and husband Frank III of Fairmont, Holly Swartz and husband Jeff of Ohio, Kelly Boggia and husband Mike of Ohio, and Kristal Tarkenton and husband Brian of Virginia; one nephew, Steve Konya II of Fairmont; two great-nieces, Jessica Swartz and Sierra Boggia; two great-nephews, Branson Boggia and Jared Swartz; a special friend, Jim Ammons; and many other friends.
In addition to Willie's parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Betty King.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Reverend Larry Harker officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. The Westover VFW Post 9116 will conduct full military rites at graveside.
