Victoria Rand, 96, of Fairmont, passed away quietly early Tuesday morning (Jan. 31, 2017) in the Point Manor Personal Care Home, where she had resided for the past two years.
Born in Vienna, Austria, on Jan. 10, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Kathryn (Borh) Wiedermann.
She did her undergraduate work at the University of Vienna, and received her master's degree from Rutgers University. Victoria was a retired school teacher, having been employed in the schools on the Fort Dix Military Instillation in New Jersey.
She is survived by her grandson, Keith Rand of New York City; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Rand-Frame (Thomas) of Fairmont; and by several relatives in Austria.
She was predeceased by her husband, Woodbury Holmes Rand, and her son, William Holmes Rand.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no public services, and her cremated remains will be returned to her homeland of Austria.
Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pennsylvania.
