Rose Marie "Toddy" Hayhurst, 88, of Suncrest Boulevard, Fairmont, passed away late Sunday evening in Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairmont.
She was born June 28, 1928, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Hazel Lorraine Merrifield Shaffer.
Mrs. Hayhurst was a member of Oakwood Church of Christ in Fairmont.
She was employed with Interstate Engineers for 30 years in the housekeeping department. Toddy loved spending evenings on her back porch enjoying wildlife that often showed up in her yard. She also loved to go shopping, go to garage sales, enjoyed gardening with her many flowers and loved listening to Elvis Presley music. Her greatest love and concern was giving and helping others less fortunate.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Hayhurst of Fairmont; a son and his wife, Robert "Jack" and Susan Dempsey; a granddaughter and her husband, Jaycee Dempsey and Terry Lee Smith of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters, Kitty Boyce of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Alice Louise Bunner of Pleasant View, Rivesville.
She was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Paul Boyce, John W. Terlosky and Richard G. Bunner.
Friends and family may call from 3-7 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Evangelist Brent Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Wyatt.
