Sue Ann Alkire, 69, of York, South Carolina, formerly of Fairmont, passed away April 7, 2016, after a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Sue was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Ralph W. Linn and Kathleen L. Vincent.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hoy E. "Al" Alkire.
She was a 1964 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a graduate of West Virginia Business College. Sue was employed for many years at Ray's Jewelry as an office manager and retired from Allegheny Power in 2002. She enjoyed the beach, reading and working puzzles, anything "Gone with the Wind," spending time with family and friends, and she was an avid West Virginia University Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Mrs. Alkire is survived by her son, Scott A. (Kathy) Alkire of York, South Carolina; a daughter, Sandra K. (Steven) Freeman of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; a granddaughter, Marissa (Rocky) Levisen of Florence, South Carolina; her treasured great-granddaughter, Kylee Paige Levison; her cousins, Wanda and Kathy Ryan of Palm Coast, Florida; and her beloved cats, Alice and Shy.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. A celebration of life service will be held at noon Saturday in the funeral home with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
