Samuel Thomas Iaquinta, 70, of Fairmont, passed from this life at Ruby Memorial Hospital Friday (May 5, 2017) after a long, courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born in Fairmont, Aug. 10, 1946, the son of the late Sam and Phyllis Ann Minganella Iaquinta.
Sam grew up in the automotive business with his Dad. He was owner of P&S Auto Sales. At one time he used to drag race cars at the Eldora Race Track. He loved cars and motorcycles and anything that had to do with them.
Mr. Iaquinta is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Delapas Iaquinta; three children, Rose Mary (Nick) Tipi and Toni Iaquinta both of Fairmont and Samuel T. Iaquinta Jr. of Pleasant Valley; one half brother, Milli Mauro; two half sisters, Roseanne and Robin; five beautiful grandchildren, Sammy (Felicity) Matos, Angela Tipi, Conchetta Iaquinta, Tiffany Gonzales and Carmine Iaquinta; one great-granddaughter, Ariana Gonzolas; and his canine buddies, Biggi, Bruno and Maggie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Irene DeVault Iaquinta, and his faithful canine companion, Ziti.
Sam chose cremation as his method of final disposition. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date, to be announced, at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
