Ruby Lee Saurborn, 80, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Nov. 13, 2016) at Madison House Nursing and Rehab Center in Morgantown. She was born in Marion County on July 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Benjamin M. Swisher and Esther Lucille (Gibson) Swisher.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Saurborn, in April 2011. The couple were married in 1956.
Mrs. Saurborn graduated from East Fairmont High School. She last worked at the Westinghouse/North American Philips plant in Fairmont. She was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and the Hopewell Homemakers Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lisa Saurborn of Morgantown; her granddaughter, Taylor Christine Saurborn of Morgantown; her sister and brother-in-law, Marcelyn Jo and Paul Hardway of West Newton, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Rick Saurborn and his wife Debra of Opekiska and Harry Herndon of Illinois; nine nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Claude Kinty officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
