Robert Clarkson Smith, 82, of Parkersburg, passed away Saturday (Jan. 7, 2017) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Hoodsville, to Oney C. and Hettie M. (Holstein) Smith.
He graduated from Rivesville High School. Bob was a local union member with BF Goodrich before his retirement with 32 years of service. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, spending time with his family and being active in his church.
He was married to Hazel Eddy (Flinn) on June 12, 1993.
Bob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his daughters, Vicky (Joe) Dinenna of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Kathy (Wayne) Bosserman of Huntsville, Alabama; stepsons, Steve (Vicky) Eddy and Rob (Dawn) Eddy of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Eric (Robin) Fox of Fort Hood, Texas, Amanda and Michael Bosserman of Huntsville, Alabama, and Phillip Abrams of Bullhead City, Arizona; great-granddaughters, Hayley and Aubrey Fox of Harvest, Alabama; his sister, Beulah (Bob) Miller of Fairmont; and his friend and brother-in-law, Terry Wright of New Matamoras, Ohio.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Adeline (Ralph) Hill of Grant Town and Madeline (Dan) Cunningham of Hoodsville; and his first wife, Martha Smith (Wright) of Columbus, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Christ Mission Baptist Church in Parkersburg. Pastor Mark Watkins will be officiating. Food will be offered after the service.
