Robert Ewald passed away Saturday (March 4, 2017) at the age of 88, at Burton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley L. Ewald.
Born May 20, 1928, he was the first of two sons of Frank and Eva Ewald of Newark, Ohio. After graduating from high school, Robert proudly served his country as a Navy Corpsman at the end of WWII and during the Korean War. He spent much of his time in the South Pacific in Ponape, Guam, Pearl Harbor and Saipan. Upon returning to the States, he attended Fairmont State College where he earned his degree in business administration and met his wife to be, Shirley. Robert spent his entire career with the General Electric Company in sales, finance and marketing, retiring after 30 years. Robert loved singing and was a member of the Singers' Club of Cleveland. He will always be remembered for helping others during their time of need.
Robert is survived by daughters Beth Dillaha, Diana Ewald, Kathy and husband Pat Porter; son Chris Ewald and wife Suzi; grandchildren Ben and wife Meghan, Ryan, Brandon, Dan, Ethan; and great-grandchild John.
The family would like to thank Burton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, the Geauga County Department on Aging, Meals on Wheels and especially Grace Hospice for the wonderful services that they provide. They would also like to thank neighbor Sandra Prahst for the special care and help provided. And lastly, thanks to friend John Breen who spent many hours with Robert at Burton Healthcare over the last few months — your kindness and friendship is deeply appreciated by our family.
