Robert Allen Boyce, 73, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (May 23, 2016) at Fairmont Regional Medical Center, following a long illness.
He was born in Fairmont on Nov. 18, 1942, a son of the late Earl Boyce and Goldie Carpenter Travis Boyce.
Robert worked at various jobs through his life, including Rogers and Imes Roofing, Mount Zion Nursery, Kettering Bakery and Estel's Furnace Service. He was a Christian by faith, was baptized and had attended Samaria Church. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by five sons, Adam Boyce, Bobby Boyce, Doug Boyce, Ricky Boyce and Billy Boyce, all of Fairmont; two daughters, Brenda Hunter and Nora White, both of Fairmont; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Alma Gower of Scottown, Ohio, and Anna Estel of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his children, Sue Merrill; all his brothers, Willard Boyce, George Travis, Norman Boyce, Ervin Boyce and Amos Boyce; and five of his sisters, Ruby Satterfield, Lauraine Liller, Audry Mae Boyce, Pearl Boyce and Edith Adams.
Friends and family may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Shepherd officiating. Interment will be private at Meadowdale Cemetery.
