Richard Watson Sr., 71, of Fairmont, passed away on Oct. 5, 2017, at Fairmont Regional Medical Center following an extensive illness.
Richard was born in Hartford County, Maryland, a son of the late Walter Lee Watson and Minnie (Gieb) Watson.
He worked most of his life in the construction trade with the Carpenter's Union. He was a past member and officer of the East Grafton Road Lions Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Alma (Kyer) Watson; his oldest son, Richard Watson Jr. and his wife Tammy Watson of Fairmont; three daughters, Stacy White and her husband Joseph of Fairmont and Tasha Watson and her fiancé Cory "Onion Head" Poole of Fairmont, Tammy Zorgan and her husband Robert of Fairmont; numerous grandchildren, James and Josh Watson, Jude Blair, Brandon Watson, David and John Watson, Noah Loughery, Kilee Weiner, Jason Michael, Ruby Watson, Colby Poole, Tabatha Boyce all of Fairmont, along with several great-grandchildren, Asher Zed, Delilah, Phoenix and Harper; his best friends, Roger Suter of Fairmont and Jesse Crouse of Virginia; his brother, William "Bill" Watson of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Eva Rhodes of Pennsylvania, Edna Hollis of Arkansas, Janet Shears of California and Margie Watson of Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two sons, James Carlton Watson and John Patrick Watson, along with a good friend, Kenny Hensley of Florida, and countless relatives.
Friends and family may call from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Sions officiating.
Interment will follow at the Simpson Gaston Cemetery, near Weston.
