On Friday (June 3, 2016), Richard Eugene Huffman, 87, passed peacefully in his Camarillo home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jonnie Huffman; five children, Christy, Michael (wife Cathy), Donna DeCaprio (husband Ron), Kathy Trigueiro (husband Tony) and Joan English (husband Jim); and two sisters, Harriet Toothman and Helen Reese of West Virginia. He was the proud grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of nine.
Richard was born in Watson, the son of Harry and Fern (Costello) Huffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers and sisters-in-law, Junior (Jean), Robert (Doris), David (Betty) and Lonnie (Rayanna).
Richard was able to see a lot of the country and the world while serving in the Army and then the Air Force. His Air Force service took him to Greenland, South Carolina, Hawaii, Texas, Arizona and California, as well as two tours in Vietnam as an adviser during the early years of the war.
Richard (Dad, Daddy, Gene, Dick, Uncle Pudge, Grandfather, Papa) enjoyed traveling in his RV, golfing, ocean fishing, bicycling and spending time with his family. We feel very blessed that he had a nice long life and that his family was able to spend lots of quality time with him during his last few months.
A church service will be held in Camarillo, California, on Tuesday.
