Raymond Prudnick Sr., 83, of Star City, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Star City, on July 20, 1933, a son of the late Anna Tinsky Prudnick and Paul Prudnick Sr.
Ray attended St. Francis Grade School, graduated from St. Francis High School, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Rodman from 1952-1956.
Upon completing his military service, he attended West Virginia University, and then went to work in the banking and finance industry for Beneficial Finance Corp. and Huntington Banks, from which he retired in 1996.
He married Mary Lou Zator Prudnick in 1961.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by five children, Stanley and wife Cindy of Oakland, Maryland, Raymond Jr. and wife Christy of Charleston, Ricky of Morgantown, Rachelle of Star City, and Michelle of Star City; nine grandchildren, Marci, Staci, Ashley, Colton, Brody, Andrew, Tyler, William and Audrie; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph, of Seattle, Washington.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Jr. (Shorty), Joseph and Edward; and one beloved great-grandchild, "Little Angel" Julia.
Friends and family will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Ave., Morgantown, with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. A private committal service with full military honors will be conducted at the West Virginia National Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
