Ralph "Flip"'s Story
Ralph Leonard "Flip" Hieber, 88, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (July 12, 2016) at River Oaks in Clarksburg.
He was born April 26, 1928, in Allison Park, Pennsylvania, son of the late Phillip and Sarah (Goodrich) Hieber.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Viola (Rankin) Hieber of Fairmont; two children, Sandi Huey and husband Mike of Fairmont, Lynn Alan Hieber and wife Susie of Swanton, Ohio; grandchildren, Lisa Gallagher, Bryan Hieber, Kelly Mulaire, Andrea Hieber, David Hieber and Rebecca Hieber; great-grandchildren, Erin, Liam and Brogan Gallagher, Mack, Meyta and Malone Hieber, Evan, Olivia and Elayna Mulaire, Emma, Isabella and Eli Hays.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Calvin, Bob, Phillip and Frank Hieber; and two sisters, Evelyn Miller and Isabelle Summerville.
Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Army paratroopers. He was a truck driver and mechanic for the Peter J. Schmidt Seafood Co. in New York from which he retired. Ralph was a previous member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church and loved to play the piano and sing. He often sang in church and shared his musical talent by performing for local nursing homes.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today and from noon-2 p.m. Friday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
