Mrs. Pola J. Honce, 87 years of age, of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly following a battle with dementia.
She was born July 19, 1929, in Baxter, the daughter of the late Jesse and Rose Kolvek King.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Honce in 2005.
Mrs. Honce is survived by a son, Joseph Honce and his wife Cheryl of Bridgeport; a daughter, Debbie Hornung and her husband Mike of Buffalo, New York; seven grandchildren, Joseph Honce and his wife Bethany of Morgantown, Michael Honce of Bridgeport, Rebekah Honce of Memphis, Tennessee, Kristine Pottle and her husband Bill of Buffalo, New York, Katherine Fruehauf and her husband Scott of Buffalo, New York, Kimberly Grainger and her husband Paul of Buffalo, New York and Kara Kerwin and her husband Mike of Bethesda, Maryland; six great-grandchildren, Wiley Pottle, Gabbie Fruehauf, Violet Kerwin, William Fruehauf, Reed Honce and Bode Honce; one sister, Leona Puskas of Grant Town; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Jesse King; and one sister, Jennie Heard.
Pola was a proud homemaker who previously worked as a cashier at Thorofare in Nutter Fort. The game of baseball was part of the Honce family. She watched many games of baseball and softball played by her grandchildren, son and husband when he played in the Independent League.
Pola was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport and had a special interest of needle work.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main St., Bridgeport with Reverend Father Benedict Kapa presiding. The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport.
