Paula Claudette Stringer, 74, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2017) at her residence.
She was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida, a daughter of Ida Marie Erickson and the late Edward Benjamin Cushing.
Paula was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She was formerly employed at the Community Action Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma, working with developmentally disabled individuals. She was also employed as a waitress, most recently at the Cracker Barrel in Fairmont. She enjoyed socializing with friends at the Arbors, football, her birds, playing Phase 10 and board games.
Paula is survived by a daughter, Deborah Long and husband Drew of Farmington; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Sara) Long of Bridgeport, Jessica (Chris) Fink of Bridgeport and Annastacia Long of Montgomery; two great-grandchildren, Kinley and Colton Fink; three sisters, Patricia Bradley of New Carney, Texas, her twin sister Ethelind "Red" Walker of Leggett, Texas, and Margaret Keller of Burton, Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Stringer, and a step-sister, Patricia Mossingill.
Graveside services will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown at 10:30 a.m. Friday with full military honors.
