Otis Elmer Smith, 70, of Fairmont, Monumental Community, passed away Sunday (March 26, 2017) at his home.
He was born in Monongalia County on Feb. 7, 1947 a son of the late Granville Smith and Eleanor (Gill) Smith.
He proudly served his country in the United Marines. He had worked at Westinghouse/North American Philips and retired from Federal No. 2.
Otis is survived by his wife, Kathy Marie (Fluharty) Smith; three daughters, Michelle Phillips of her husband Daniel of Fairmont, Jennifer Riggs and her companion Brian Weekly of Bingamon and Stacy Smith of Martinsburg; six grandchildren, Alayna Gero and her husband Corey, Cheyenne Phillips, Tristan Riggs, Garrett Riggs, Spencer VanHoose and Jae Jenkins.
Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Smith and his wife Vera of Rivesville and Charles Smith and his wife Diana of Farmington; a sister, Pearl Yost and her husband of Jim of Hagan's Community; and several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Otis was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca A. "Becky" (Satterfield) Smith; three sisters June Kovach, Ethel Robinson and Annie Musgrove; and one brother Lee Smith.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Rager and Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens where full military rites will be performed my Marion County Veterans Council Honor Guard and the United States Marines.
