Nina Frances Shaw, 95, of Fairmont, passed away on Aug. 6, 2016 (Saturday)?at Fairmont Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Shaw was born in Fairmont, on Jan. 8, 1921, a daughter of the late William and Annie Eliza (Huffman) Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harry Shaw, on April 19, 1987. The couple was married April 15, 1939.
She attended the Samaria Free Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, surprising her family with her special recipes, baking, decorating cakes and quilting.
Nina was a kind, gentle lady who adored her family and many friends. She was also fond of animals and liked feeding the deer and birds.
She is survived by two sons, Harry David Shaw of Fairmont and Eddie Shaw and his wife Karen, also of Fairmont; two daughters, Janet Clelland and her husband Mike of Fairmont and Nieta Stewart of Fairmont; six very special grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Tami Shaw, Melissa and Karl Trimble, Robert Stewart, Shelly Corwin, John and Jill Stewart, and Jimmy and Katie Stewart; and 13 great-grandchildren, Brandon Shaw, Seth Corwin, Jakob Shaw, Tessa Trimble, Kelsey Corwin, McKenzie Shaw, Kylee Trimble, Jeremy Stewart, Joey Stewart, Tristan Stewart, Emma Stewart, Allie Stewart and Sadie Shaw.
She is survived by one sister, Olive Rebecca Coffman of Summersville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by seven sisters, Rosa Pride, Goldie VanGilder, Dessie Lake, Martha Hayhurst, Mary Pride, Louanna VanGilder and Cora Poling; two brothers, Lloyd Hawkins and Glen Hawkins; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Shaw; and a son-in-law, James Stewart.
Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Stemple, assisted by Rex Musgrove, officiating. Interment services will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
