Nancy Frances Sciubbo, 99, passed away peacefully at Fairmont Regional Medical Center on Aug. 4, 2016 (Thursday) with her family at her side.
She was born March 25, 1917, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Michael and Christine DeCarlo.
Nancy was a homemaker whose top priority in life was her family. She married her husband Dominick on June 29, 1940. Together they shared 64 wonderful years.
In their younger years, Nancy and Dominick attended daily morning Mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where they were members.
Mrs. Sciubbo enjoyed playing bingo, gardening and traveling with the Fairmont Travel Club. Her favorite trips were to Italy and Hawaii.
Nancy was happiest when she was with her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her specialty was homemade bread and rolls, which she shared with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by those who loved her. She will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Larry Lawrence of Fairmont; one grandson, Mark Gallucci and wife Tina of McHenry, Maryland; and the proud great-grandmother of Ryan and Justin Gallucci also of McHenry, Maryland; son-in-law, Ron Gallucci of Swanton, Maryland; one sister, Mary Adducchio of Fairmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sciubbo was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick, on Jan. 20, 2005; her dear daughter, Judith Gallucci, on Jan. 16, 2007; her brothers, Joseph, Nick, Frank and Tony; her sisters, Theresa Belfiore and Virginia Sedera.
The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. G. Patel, the I.C.U. staff, as well as the step-down unit at Fairmont Regional Medical Center for the care given to Mrs. Sciubbo.
Also the family would like to express appreciation to John Manchin Sr. Healthcare Center for their love, wonderful care and concern for Nancy while she was a resident.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Walter Jagela as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
A vigil service led by Deacon Lou Belldina will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
