Mildreth Ruth Saporito, 85, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Jan. 21, 2017) at Tygart Center at Fairmont.
She was born in Mannington on Feb. 5, 1931, a daughter of the late Orven M. Powell, Sr. and Audrey (Hutson) Powell.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John A. Saporito. Mildreth was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. In addition, she had worked at Jones Department Store in Fairmont. She was an active member of H&H Chapel Meadowdale United Methodist Church, the Travelers Club and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 7048. Her other interests included ceramics and crafts.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Saporito was survived by her son, Terry W. Saporito and his wife Jill of Fairmont; her daughter-in-law, Doris Saporito also of Fairmont; grandchildren and their spouses, John R. and Laura Saporito, Tricia and Harold Boyles, Karen Saporito and Sarah Saporito; great grandchildren, Courtney Saporito, Justin Hardesty, Madison, Kaylee Kenny and Zoe Boyles and great-great grandchildren, Cannon and Addie. She is also survived by a brother, Orven "Sonny" Powell, Jr. and his wife Pam.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Saporito; a sister, Ester Hennis and her husband George; and a brother, Denny Powell and his wife Louise.
Friends and family may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
