Mildred L. "Millie" Jennings, 93, of the Tygart Center in Fairmont, passed away late Saturday evening (July 2, 2016).
She was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Upshur County, daughter of the late Hershel Ralph and Hazel Dolly Clevenger Coakley.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Fairmont. She earlier served as a hairdresser in Illinois. Mildred was a true farm girl, working the farm with her husband Joe. She also enjoyed family activities.
Survivors include two brothers, Herschel and his wife Willa Coakley of Burlington, Kentucky, and Frank Coakley of Fairmont; five sisters, Elizabeth Jean Casto of Akron, Ohio, Marjorie W. Heaney of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary E. Trickett of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Anna L. Vincent of Fairmont and Ruth and her husband Phil Monell of Fairmont; stepchildren, Belinda Martel, Thelma Gromer and Mary McCulley; a sister-in-law, Brenda Coakley of Louisiana several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William B. Coakley and R. Glen Coakley; three sisters-in-law, Irene, Lynn and Diana Coakley; four brothers-in-law, Charles Casto, Bud Heaney, George Trickett and Kenny Vincent; and two stepsons, Paul and Ernie Jennings.
Family and friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 10-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. Ritual services for the Order of the Eastern Star will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Steve Stemple officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Life Cemetery, Webster County.
