Maude Marie (Rogers) Smith Urse, 92, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (April 29, 2017) at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Paisley on April 15, 1925, a daughter of the late Arthur Clay and Helen Virginia (Malone) Rogers.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Keith David Smith and Frank B. Urse.
Mrs. Urse graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1942. She was a member of the Benton's Ferry United Methodist Church, CEO, the Church Circle, Genealogy Clubs in Marion and Harrison Counties and Triune- Halleck Senior Citizens Club. Her interests included gardening, cooking, canning and spending time with her family, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maude is survived by her two sons, Dr. Forrest Wayne Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Columbus, Ohio, and Lewis Alan Smith and his wife Nancy of Colfax; her grandchildren, Ryan Logan Smith, Sheena Rachelle Smith, David Alan Smith, Douglas Franklin Smith, Sarah Michelle Smith Jackett, Jennifer Lynn Smith Gabriel, April Allison McLane and Valerie Leigh McLane; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Marie Gabriel, Katelyn Jane Gabriel, Clara Grace Jackett, Samuel Brian Jackett and Natalia 'Natty" Noelle Smith; and two stepsons, Jay Urse and Ray Urse.
She is also survived by one brother, James Keith Rogers of Fairmont; one sister, Carolyn Rogers Young of Fairmont; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Maude was also preceded in death by her daughter, Shelley Smith McLane; three brothers, Franklin Lee Rogers, Arthur Clay Rogers, Jr. and Maxwell M. Rogers; two sisters, Ruth Alice Mahaffey and Mary Ellen Huber; and a granddaughter, Natasha Marie Smith.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Mount Clare.
